About the desk
ZEWAY is written by a working shipbroking desk, not a newsroom. The page is what the desk looks at in the morning, published: the Gulf tanker dark index, the chokepoints, the freight prints, the fixtures, the grain afloat, the tenders and the log, every line dated and every call graded in public.
Who
[FILL IN — the name of the desk or company, where it sits (city, country), and what it brokes: tankers, dry bulk, coasters, the Black Sea and the Med]
[FILL IN — the people who type the blocks, by name and role, with a line on their background in the market; a photograph helps]
[FILL IN — since when the page has been published, and why: the morning it was built for]
How the numbers are made
Where each line comes from, and which lines are typed by hand.DARKCON reads straits.live's AIS watch box over the Gulf: the share of screened tankers that stopped broadcasting in the last 24 hours, divided by the share of other ships that did the same, read as a level from 1 to 5. The counts are theirs; the ratio and the level are ZEWAY's. The full method and every night on record.
The chokepoints read IMF PortWatch daily transits via straits.live against the median of the year before Hormuz shut. The status flap is set by the count, except where ships are being hit, where the desk sets it by hand and the remark says so.
The freight prints are Baltic Exchange and Clarksons, and the desk's paid weekly coaster index and handy to supramax assessments, typed in weekly and dated on each block. The fixture wire, the desk's read, the tender board and the scorecard are typed by hand and dated one by one.
The scorecard grades the desk's own calls against the next weekly print, hit or miss, and shows every miss. Nothing on the page is advice.
Reach the desk
Email [FILL IN — the desk's email address]. The 0600Z brief goes out on [FILL IN — the Telegram channel link] and [FILL IN — the WhatsApp channel link]. The desk is on [FILL IN — LinkedIn and X profile links].
If a line is wrong, write and say which; the correction is typed with its own date and the original stays on the record.
Use the numbers
DARKCON is free to quote and embed with a link to zeway.ai/darkcon/; the same numbers are at darkcon.json. The daily brief, and the log, are in the RSS feed. Counts from straits.live are CC0; strait transits are © IMF PortWatch.
